Join the Lincoln Chess Club!
What is Chess Club?
Chess Club is a place for kids to have fun while learning how to play chess and/or how to play chess better. Players have the opportunity to compete in district-wide tournaments. The club is run by parent volunteers. Professional chess coaches work with the players during each meeting.
Who may join Chess Club?
The club is open to all Lincoln students, from kindergarten on. No knowledge of chess required.
When does Chess Club meet?
Chess Club will run in two sessions:
Session I – October 6 through January 19
Session II – January 23 through April 27
The club meets twice weekly: Mondays 5-6 pm and Thursdays 8-9 am.
Students may attend one or both sessions each week for the same enrollment fee.
Where does Chess Club meet?
The club meets in Lincoln classrooms (which rooms precisely TBD).
How do students register for Chess Club?
The enrollment fee is $60 per child, per session. Scholarships are available—email email@example.com for scholarship information.
To register, bring a completed 2016-2017 Chess Registration Form and payment to the PTA mailbox in the main office. Make checks payable to Lincoln School PTA and write “Chess Club” on the memo line.
The deadline for registration and payment is Friday, September 14. We must have forms and payment by this date in order to process the registrations and to plan in advance of the club start date. Please do not bring forms and payment to chess club.
May parents volunteer to help chess club?
YES! We need parent volunteers to help at chess club meetings. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more and to volunteer for Mondays, Thursdays, or both. No knowledge of chess is required.
