What is Chess Club?

Chess Club is a place for kids to have fun while learning how to play chess and/or how to play chess better. Players have the opportunity to compete in district-wide tournaments. The club is run by parent volunteers. Professional chess coaches work with the players during each meeting.

Who may join Chess Club?

The club is open to all Lincoln students, from kindergarten on. No knowledge of chess required.

When does Chess Club meet?

Chess Club runs in two sessions:

  • Session I-October 2 through January 18
  • Session II-January 22 through April 30

The club meets twice weekly: Mondays 5-6 pm and Thursdays 8-9 am.

Students may attend one or both sessions each week for the same enrollment fee.

Where does Chess Club meet?

Returning players meet in the library. New players meet in the Teachers’ Lounge.

The deadline for registration and payment is Wednesday, September 13. We must have forms and payment by this date so we can process the registrations and plan by the start date. We ask that forms and payment not be brought to chess club but turned in to the PTA box in the office.

May parents volunteer to help chess club?

YES! We need parent volunteers to help at chess club meetings. Email martha.ocarroll@comcast.net to find out more and to volunteer for Mondays, Thursdays, or both. No knowledge of chess is required.
